The key to optimizing your skin’s health is called the GUT-BRAIN-SKIN connection.

I love adding cinnamon to my oatmeal, my coffee - basically, I love cinnamon. Cinnamon boosts circulation to skin AND regulates blood sugar levels.

But adding cinnamon into a DIY face mask? This is a no for me. Cinnamon can be very irritating when used topically. Actually, some people apply cinnamon oil onto their lips specifically to create an irritation/plumping reaction. Although your lips might look extra juicy that day, if you repeat that act a few days in a row you can expect to have dry, chapped, painful lips waiting for you a few days later.  Oh, and don’t forget the red rim around your lips that’s especially unattractive and uncomfortable!  

Cinnamon bark can also cause an allergic reaction in a number of people as a result of the cinnamaldehyde. Just because an ingredient is good in your food does NOT mean it’s good for your skin!  When I see these DIY masks with cinnamon on pinterest, I cringe. Please, no, guys! 😬💛
